i dont think you pushed him away if. i am a guy trying to put myself in your shoes and it sounds like he just wanted to have and the thing with you comin over at the wrong time was a misunderstanding and he should not have accepted your apology. he should have told you not to apologize because it was nothing more then a misunderstanding and if i was you i would stay away from this guy because if you get to involved with him then you will only end up hurt... so next time he calls tell him he is to late and that your seeing someone else.
