Problem with home made ethernet/cat 5 cable splitter

I guess my first question back to you would be...Why? What exactly are you trying to accomplish? most devices that use an ethernet cable will not work by splitting an ethernet cable in this way. A simple switch is a much easier and simple way of splitting the cable see link below.
